Iron Man lives again!
Sunday. 5.18.08 10:38 pm
Yeah, I just saw that. I'm going to be talking like Tony Stark for the rest of the school year. I already kind of do, anyway. My mom liked it, so you know it's good.

My Sansa broke about a week ago...I stepped on it, I think. The screen was cracked, but something inside was also broken. Because it only stays on for about 4 seconds, and the computer can not communicate with it anymore. BUT!

I'm getting an 8 gig Zune. And I'm super excited about it. I've told multiple people. Multiple times.

Read another Ted DekKer book...and am also thrilled with it. Now I need to buy the last one in that particular series. Black, Red...and then White. Fitting.

Yesterday I went to Katie's house for an hour or so, and I glomped the crap out of her. What fun. Really, it was fun. Apparently she was holding out on her cooking, though...D:

Mosquito season....merr.

Anyone seen the Trailer for the movie City of Ember? Man, that looks intense...

I wasn't ignoring your comment, even if I disagree with it.

Religion is just one of those things that starts small and snowballs into something huge. I mean think about it, cults and stuff usually get big followings. It doesn't matter if stuff is true or not, you play off people's fears and desires and they're going to believe what you tell them.

Nobody cares if something is real. It's all "oh, my friend's friend's brother's son saw it, so of course it's true..." Rumors are really what get things going.

I agree that that God desribed in the bible would be outside of time.. I have issues to start with, on how God was bought into existance in the first place, even if he is outside of time, and additionally, if he does exist, What exactly is the proper interpetations for his teachings are... along with many other things..

Doesn't matter if it was a good time. Things happen. The people need hope, they get it wherever they can.

If this argument is going to go on a lot longer, I should let you know that I am not going to change my position at all.

Hey, I used to be Christian. I know what it's like to actually believe in a god. When I was younger that was all I was about.

This is one of the things I don't like about Christianity in particular. Not all religions, just Christianity. There's this horrible persistence that comes with it, and I hate it when people keep trying to convert me.

I'm not saying you're trying to convert me, but my parents always said they weren't trying when they forced me to go to church with them.

Other religious people, they leave me alone. I say "I don't believe in this," they're like, "okay, we get that." Christian people? Not the same. It's all "oh, you just don't see it in this light, it's different, just listen, just accept Jesus as your savior" etc.

I would not loathe your religion half as much if everyone I met would stop telling me to consider their beliefs and try to understand them.

(Sorry if this comes off a bit harsh, but I've had it up to HERE with all the Bible thumpers who bother me- it's not necessarily all directed at you)

I don't see why not wanting to be converted makes me not-open-minded. So I'm fine with my life? I'm perfectly content with my agnosticism? And therefore I'm close-minded?

You make it sound like the only way to be open-minded is to accept Christianity.

Yea, I got all that stuff in the bible, about how he saves, etc and so on.. And I've read that, taken a class or 2 that's dealt with the bible and in christ, and the different interpetations of creation in there, some of which jesus is seen as being more powerful... others in which he's not so powerful

I have been bought up with no religious backing, and I've just loosely believed in the existance of God, not knowing exactly what it was all about... I've just simply believed

But yea.. Its not that I just doubt the existance of God, if God exist, its also dealing with the validity of the bible, and how different religious persuations have different versions of the bible. And I have a hard time believing any of the interpetations of the story of Jesus. As I wrote for my Christ in Christanity Class, That the stories on creation and Jesus christ were probably just caterored to whoever was around at the time. If there was Afgan people, there would have been a creation story that would cater to them. if it was whale people, it would have been a creation story that they would be more likely to accept as well that would have been made up for them

And if he is outside of time, that still doesn't stop me about wondering about how he came to be. Maybe God can explain that to me, b/c that would be a very very interesting story to note.

Basically, I'm opened to looking at all religions.. and just seeing what all of them have in it, including paganastic ones and others, b/c I'm not convinced that christanity is competely right at all, and I think each religon has different parts to it that are partially true, and that you just can't besure which religion or story is correct. I mean everyone is bought up believing something different, or being eduacted onto a different religion, so who is to say which one is the best or most righteous

(ok i'm off to sleep, i can't even think anymore right now, we'll keep on with this another time...and no hard feelings, just expressing my opinion)
